Schismatrix Plus by Bruce Sterling. These scattered, interrelated communities exist within two general, mutually antagonistic factions: Bruce Sterling is an Austin-born science fiction writer and Net critic, internationally recognized as a cyberspace theorist who is also considered one of the forefathers of the cyberpunk movement in science fiction.
This isn’t typical cyberpunk either, but it was written a year after Nueromancer and was also one of the books that has heavily influenced and defined what cyberpunk has become.
But the investment is absolutely worth it. Get updates Get updates. The moment I read in Galactic North that Alastair Reynolds acknowledged Schismatrix as a huge influence in developing his Revelation Space series, I knew I had to eventually track it down.

Reading a sample of a current big sci fi hit, I was struck by how much I disliked the prose immediately. Mirasol’s competitors are just as outre and remote from recognizable humanity as she is — the weirdest one is a nameless woman whose legs terminate in a second set of hands, and whose knees bend like elbows.
There is so much here that there is nothing here at all.
Inspired by Your Browsing History. It is a mad difficult book to write and due to that, it is quite obscure in places; but that’s alright. There are five stories: There are ideas galore that give you hope, that maybe, just maybe tomorrow will be stranger.
In between, the story was essentially futuristic intrigue. He is perpetually restless, or even perpetually in a rage, over the limitations of society and indeed of embodied experience.

It had me going to the dictionary on more than one occasion to schhismatrix up terms such as “clade” and “Prigoginic” which relates to Ilya Prigogine who, according to Wikipedia, was a Belgian chemist noted for his work on dissi Schismatrix is a deeply engaging novel about the post-human future of humanity.
The Mechanists are ancient aristocrats, their lives prosthetically extended with advanced technology. Paperbackpages. Probably my favorite thing about this story is its judicious employment of word salad. Read it Forward Read it first. Sterling’s world is further fleshed out by the short stories included here: I liked the book more and more as I went on, but the flaws and weaknesses run throughout.
I guess “it was amazing”. Lindsay runs away from what he sees as a hopeless battle, but Nora decides to stay in the Rings, where they had built their lives and family, to fight Constantine and his militant government.
What was Sterling doing? Of course it doesn’t go schismatrrix right.
